News (20120125) <sticky>

I've started migrating the naming convention for SCQP data processing for the real-time processing.
In order to accommodate for the forthcoming EumetCast changes, I've upgraded the executables. This was the reason of the unforeseen OS upgrades which kept me busy these past weeks.
The core processing of these new versions is essentially the same as the 20100815 versions, only a few internal loops arrangement have been modified in order to achieve a better vectorization and hence a faster processing.
This later gain is already visible on the CPU usage. Back processing should also benefit from it soon.
File formats and content should be exactly the same a before, but nevertheless some weak deviations -- below the significant digits -- are possible.
File names for results processed so far will be migrated (for consistency) at a later stage.
A big part of the scripts handling file reception, queuing, plotting, results dispatching, alerts, ... have been updated.
Examples provided by Eumetsat being too few (one!) to be helpfull in debugging global processing chain, bad surprises are possible.
Other processing chains (GOME,ASCAT,HIRS,...) are not yet in the migration process and will be handled asap.

Now lets wait the D day and cross fingers.

News (20120123) <sticky>

On February the 8th, Eumetsat intend to change naming conventions for the incoming EPS PDU's. This implied a whole restructuration of the real-time processing.
During the migration process, I've decided to partly mimic this new convention for the output files naming. Forli results will now be prefixed by "Forli_xxx," while NRT results will be prefixed by "Brescia_NRT,".
"BRESCIA" has been chosen in order to "comply" with the Forli name and stands for "BRightness Events SCanning with IAsi". If you don't like it let me know.

File content remains the same. Normally operational scripts should handles properly the transition... but surprises are not unexpected.

The "official" FORLI-files readers are available here.
Windows: Use Universal Extractor to read the archive. Updated "crashless" versions.
Linux: Users encountering a "liblzma.so.5 not found" error should create a symbolic link to /usr/lib/liblzma.so in the /usr/lib directory.

New plot selection criteria. Based upon statistical analysis of the residuals recommended values are used to avoid partly cloudy scenes:
MoleculeBIASRMS
CO-0.15/0.25 10-92.7 10-9
HNO3-0.60/0.40 10-93.0 10-8
O3-0.75/1.25 10-93.5 10-8
NH3N/A*N/A*
* insufficient statistics
Ozone is the most affected, as the standard flags are normally sufficient for CO and HNO3.
